I have an abiding and severe dislike for the abuse of power. Having said that, I'd like to become the pope, for example. Oh, not for the crappy pomp, but simply to become known as "Chico the Merciful" as I begin my policies under the new "Reign of Terror." I would look incredible in a long red robe... With that background ideology openly stated, I would like to become one of this forum's moderators. That's right, for the first time in my life I am seeking the job of an officier. I have never done that (seriously, that is.) I hate officers, even in my own club. Oh, I like the guys as guys. But sew an officer's patch on their rags and they start to take themselves far too seriously. However, I am so sick of forum demi-gods that I think the cyber world ought to post a "bounty" on them. For example, if you help get a mouthy mod fired from his post you get free banner advertising for a year. I've been on the boards long enough to know many of these clowns personally. I think the herd needs to be culled. I want the job.

Okay, okay, I used humor. But you have to admit that there are a lot of mods out there that should be degreasing bikes and not commenting on them.
My first abuse of power once in office will be to create a "troll hole." Think of it as a cyber version of the Roach Motel. I won't ban the poser, but if the clown expects a response to his post the members will have to go to a section of the forum that clearly defines him.

You can have it cheap. You can have it fast. You can have high quality. PICK ANY 2....

That's good to hear. However, as a forum becomes more popular for the right kind of guys it also draws the attention of the wrong crowd.
BI63 and I like to discuss Harleys, we like to debate issues (shovels vs pans, i.e.,) and we dislike petty flaming. If you're going to build a strong house you do it by carefully adding brick by brick. Unfortunately for the forums, that means a comprehensive 'lock and load' attitude for what is certainly going to come.
For example, two of the best knife forums--which comprise tens of thousands of members and numerous banner advertisers--are worthless drunken frathouses. The owners seemingly had better things to do, and their choices for mods was downright sloppy. No serious debates ever take place. Step out of line and you'll draw flames and a ban for sure.
So abusive is the practice that one mod is addressed as "the maestro." And you'd better not disagree.

Knowing you, your history and experience you will make a great MOD. Keeping the bar high and what not. Doing it old school. Case in point..we have diagreed, night and day at times and our friendship survives. Why? Because its done with respect and the spirit of the intention is obvious. Unlike many posters, I know what the price is for being disrespectfull in person and so I try to be on the boards as I would be in person. A poster can agree to disagree while standing on the oposite end of a topic from another poster? I'm tired I'm blabbering. If you are suspected of independent thoughts you must be "dealt with." It's not just among bike guys. In studying Japanese culture for my job I have learned a bit about their ideology. They have a saying, "A nail that pops up must be hammered down." If I was a mod I would create an environment where a guy could think out loud. As just about everyone knows, BI63 and I come from similar backgrounds in motorcycling. The key idea is that we "came from" that world--we do not live in it now. That history formed our opinions, but so did four decades of life amid our careers, our marriages and just evolving as older men. If the worst 1%er outlaw and prison ex-con bought a GoldWing and joined the Wing Dingers then my opinion is that he has a story to tell. He could even be a valuable mentor. I believe that opportunity for us all in forums needs to be protected.

Individuals/posters should have the space to have an opinion regardless if anyone else agrees with them. I tend to have more respect for those who fearlessly jump in with both feet with a well grounded beg to doffer point rather then be the proverbial blowing butterfly kisses up everyones arse unless it is coincidently your position too.
