I was thinking of bidding on a customized Harley Davidson Chopper. It states. "You are bidding on a customized Harley Davidson Chopper.
Title reads 1999, frame is 2003 when this bike was customized."
ok I ran the vin # and found that it is a 99 sportster XL1200C. Now thats fine but how do I register the bike if it has a 1999 title and a 2003 frame?
Don't know if this is a scam or what. I would appreciate your input. Thanks in advance.

Without being a lawyer nor with any experience dealing with bike titles that don't match or whatever I can't say for certain but I don't think the title date matters much. Now, it depends on if the title is from a "salvage" or something like that. At least here in Florida that's the case and can cause issues when you try to register the bike.

I'd be really careful with something like that...IMHO.....

If the vin # on the title does not match the # on the frame, you don't want it. It will have to be titled as a coustom build and then it is worthless. Some states may use the term "salvage title".
