I own a 1980 Harley Davidson Shovelhead 1340 engine model FXEF. The bike has sat for a few years and now there is no clutch feeling. The kicking the kick starter there is no feeling. What could it be. How can I fix this and what parts are needed. Thank you
Oh boy. Could be a few things...either kicker broke or no compression (top end needed?) or both. I'd start by taking the gas tanks off and out of the way. You won't be needing those for a while. In fact might want to flush your tanks while you're at it.
I'd check the kcker after i bought a manual. A good manual will show and explain things. Having sat for a few years isn't the end of the world. Just went throught that myself with my 1983 FLHS. Lots of rust and flakng chrome.
Is there any squeeze to the clutch lever or does it swing freely? Clutch cable may be broke? Start small work big (opening primary cover then maybe the primary all together). Hunker down for the lng haul. Be patient.
It should also have electric start also.
