Anybody know anything about selecting Cams for a 2005 FLSTFISE103.
My bike has a 8.8:1 compression ratio according to the factory spec and the closest S&S cam (551) says it is designed for 9 to 9.9. Does the .2 difference in compression ratio matter that much?
I am starting to second guess the mechanics at the dealership as they first ordered cams that would not even fit into my bike!

Here's a tip: Always second guess the mechanics at the dealership... You care - them, not so much...
You can have it cheap. You can have it fast. You can have high quality. PICK ANY 2....

I would call S&S tech line up on the phone and tell them what you have and tell them what you want to do and let their tech people give you the right information.

My Dyna got new cams as part of the engine build.
My advice is that cams are like breast augmentation. Meaning, the big ones seem like a good idea, that is, until you have to live with them.
I put low/mid range cams in Betty. Best thing I ever did. I no longer drag race, but I do use acceleration ramps and pass slow farmers. If my bikes come on at about 40 to 80 MPH I consider the cams a prudent choice.
While my dynamometer figures are table-top across the top of the graph, it's nice not to have to make every change in speed a bonzai run. I know guys that just install a 211 cam with no thought process whatsoever.
