Hello , biker need professional advice..
CASTROL GTX 20-50 in the engine for both bikes.(mineral) AMSOIL SVG 75-140 in the tranny. AMSOIL 20-50 in the primary. I change oil in the engine every 1000 miles or 12 months( wich one came first) and the filter. I change tranny and primary every year or no more than 5000 miles. For winter storage I change fluids after storage and never crank the bike during storage.
I ve read on internet that using dino in my Harley it s not good and also changing fluids after storage period it s not indicated , do it prior storage.
I live in Romania lots of my rides are short lots of stop and go ,and summer time it s really hot . I would like to know your opinion about what I do with my bikes(oils,intervals), and if you would do it diferrent please let me know.If you have any advise please tell me. I like my bikes and I just want to have it for long time.

Changing oil every 1,000 miles seems unnecessary. But I know that guys who ride in dusty conditions do just that. If you ride the highways, check with your mechanic, it might be unneeded.
As for dinosaur oil, I use it in my Sportster although my Dyna runs synth. I am nagged by a heat problem with my Sportster. It's probably okay, it's just bothersome. I discussed this with my mechanic, and then we decided to just change oil more often. Regular oil is cheaper, and poses no loss of lubrication.
I also change out oil during winter storage no matter how many miles.
Oh, and change filters every time.

Thank you much guys ! First off CASTROL GTX 20-50 is a great oil. You shouldn't need to change your oil at that interval. I would change it at the least every 3,000 miles and change the oil filter at the same time. The synthetic oil is better then the dino oil, as it does not break down as fast and lasts a lot longer. I would recommend using it in you bikes as the protection is way better but you could have big problems since your bikes are older and have some miles on them The molecules in the synthetic are a lot smaller then the dino oil and could result in leaks and seal failure. That could cost you big bucks to fix. Now if you have the engines completely rebuilt and they are like new at that point you could start using the sync. I would store it with fresh oil, I would also run it to make sure that the oil has circulated. You have a better chance of using sync in your primary and tranny without problems. Tourist didn't your new 48 come from the factory with sync? I would be using sync in your bike this would help the engine as it would not break down as fast as the dino under those hot engine conditions. I am very surprised that your dealer did not recommend that.

Thank you much for your answers. yes it s dusty here, a lot of stops and go trafic, very hot and i take this like an insurance. And i dont run highways...i wish to but no highways in here and as i will change the oil every 1000, i dont consider the syn oil an necessary choice, only if will run the engine cooler. AND YES. I will do the changes prior to winter storage. Thanks guys, it s nice to be here ! ]

I didn't go this route casually. I broke the Sportster in very carefully, checked for loose bolts, researched all of the upgrades, double-checked on downloads for my new filtration/exhaust mods, and drove my mechanic nuts with this "heat" issue. Tight oil change schedules were the best advice. Now, Betty's engine is custom everything. I use synth (and the cam plate upgrade) to hedge my bets.

I use Brad Penn- Penn grade1 in 20w-50 with a HD premium filter and change it every 3,000 miles.Every other oil change I change the fluids in the primary and transmission.I use the Formula + in those reservoirs, probably a slight over kill in the interval but that way I know it's not forgotten.
