The stickiest tire I have ever ran were the Pirelli Night Dragons.Always run the manufacturers recommended air pressure for your bike model.People that I know who were complaining about the tread life were running to the Dunlop recommended air pressure spec in the the Harley owners manual, it doesn't work well for other tire brands. I run Metzelers ME880's on my Dyna, they work extremely well on it but I haven't tried the Metzeler on the Electra glide yet.

How about prices? how much more for the Dragons compared to the Dunlops?

You can have it cheap.
You can have it fast.
You can have high quality.
PICK ANY 2....

Ilove the dunlops on my fat bob. I sold the bob but still have the tires. D427 180/70-16 and 130/90-16, about 70 percent. If anyone is interested in them I would ship them in the conti 48 for 175. email me at paulw_pb@yahoo.com. I take paypal

I've been checking prices. The Pirelli Night Dragons are slightly cheaper than the Dunlops.I'm considering the Michelin Commander 2 tire in the list as well.

Front tire
Dunlop 402 - $111.77
Pirelli Night Dragon- $106.40
Michelin Commander 2 -$109.50

Rear tire
Dunlop 402- $134.77
Pirelli Night Dragon-$126.19
Michelin Commander 2-$132.85

I love the Night Dragons but want to try the Michelins to make sure I'm not missing out on anything better. :icon_hat:

These posts are old so everyone on here is getting ready for the 2nd or even 3rd tire purchase since the string started but I just had to chime in.

I have run Dunlops through my first 100,000 miles on different bikes. With correct tire pressure for the bikes the Dunlops had more tread life than any of the tires my friends were running and could not have been more economical because of it. I went well over 10,000 miles on some of them.

I cannot vouch for their performance though. Three tire changes ago a motorcyle cop friend of mine recommended I try Metzlers. His force takes their brand new bikes and rips the brand new Dunlops off and replaces them with Metzlers. In the Seattle wet conditions I would not run anything else now. Where I used to kick out on my rear end (and sometimes my front) with Dunlops. I stick like glue now. You can only get about 1/2 the tread life but I figure my life is worth more than the difference in cost (my wife may not agree). Actually I would not let her run anything but Metzlers either on her Deluxe even though hers are more expensive than mine because she has to have the special order white walls  .

And I can tell you for fact my Fatboy can lean beyond the springs on my floor boards without the tire kicking out.

Tom
