During my recent stint on the other forum I never saw that mod post a pic documenting any claims, whatsoever. This 'biker' could have been a fourteen year old female cheerleader. I never saw a well supported debating premise, nor did I ever read a well structured rebuttal. In fact, for +75% of his reponses I only saw rants and insults. In most forums a member would have been justifiably banned. Most times I was confused about just what point he was trying to make--if any. In the Army such conduct affects "unit cohesion." And just because a forum is a loose entity of voluntary membership for debate, it is also private property designed to generate some form of revenue from advertising. Not only is such puerile conduct questionable, but it chills new membership. In the end the forum owner is letting an uninformed little Hitler ruin his business. If the mod takes the job to facilitate the smooth operation of the forum, then he also has duties to perform, besides whining without a substantive foundation. Once again our prime directive has to be, "Never be a dickhead." He set a poor example on how to disagree without being disagreeable. In the end, did you ever learn anything?

I saw where you posted about the VROD and numbnutts could do nothing but respond in a name calling juvenile manner and he's a MOD? We should provide our fellow members here with a tad of background. One, I like Harleys, and I put my money where my mouth is and bought two of them. However, I do admit they have flaws. My little Sportster has the cheapest and least functional set of rear shocks I've ever seen (or felt) on a motorcycle--and that encompasses four decades. Two, being "banned" means absolutely nothing to me. In fact, I have even requested a ban from mods when I felt I was being tarred with the same brush, and I wanted to distance myself from idiocy to protect my business. It seems to surprise most forum rats when I openly state that forums are a voluntary association, and even the best forum is worth only a dime a dozen. Keeping that in mind, I took a stance on the V-Rod. Much like the Buell, Harley built the bike, realized not many wanted it, and then yanked the rug out from under it. I truly believe that liquid cooling is our future--however the V-Rod is just a lousy example. MoCo should fix it, redesign it or replace it. That simple idea, and my personal opinion, got me flamed by a mod.

It was obvious from readig azzhats post he was brewing for a fight. I think your out spoken intelligence made him feel insecure. His replies read like you were having a battle of wits with an unarmed oponent, lol. You observations while not popular sounded plausible depite all the MOCO put into the VROD. I seen the documentary of the making of the VROD. Have a copy of it too. I test rode a VROD as I was considering making a Road Rod...that where you put a road glide fairing on a VROD. After I rode the muscle(and I'll give it another chance, perhaps its an acquired taste), I scraped the idea for now. The concept appears to look like an excellent solo riders touring bike once you put the road glide fairing on it and of course the fiber glass bags. I owned a 1996 Buell S2T new for about 11 years and I loved that bike. Rode the piss out of it. It was a time when me and the wife were raising kids and she wasn't riding till the kids were grown. Once they were out the door say about 2008 thats when I upgraded my iron to the 2 used Ultras I have now. I often refer to some forums as being "kingdoms" or in having "golden children." If that ideology continues the good people either leave or get banned. In my case, I asked to be banned. And just like handling drunken townies, that always gets 'em in the tenders! I think we're starting off here with a clean sheet of paper. No one should be afraid to say, "I disagree." If anything, that's where the fun begins. For example, today I started a thread on comfortable biker clothing, in my case, the quest for decent blue jeans. We all have our favorites, and I'll bet everyone has a differing opinion. I'm hoping that this style of thread will bring comments, a debate, and an opportunity for us to get to know each other in the exchange.

Funny you mention the jean thread. I read it and offered what I think is a much better alternative to your riding jeans. Its sharp, its leather and yeah its got a bit of a price tag because its worth it. I'm saving up for the jacket as we speak. Your differing comment--and our friendship--demonstrate exactly the type of forum I need and want. Just because we are brothers it doesn't mean that we are 'cookie cutters' of each others opinions. For example, it's okay to have an exact past, but now be transitioning into diverse lifestyles as we age. You, for example, have the time and desire to be an iron butt. Due to my wife's job while I run my own company, I will be closer to home for a few years. You need a Glide, I'm finding my Sportster more useful. We are not in a disagreement there, per se, we just acknowledge a respect for the others' choice(s). Your friendship is worth more to me than a bike and a pair of pants. Perhaps that's the life experience that we can teach here.

Well said. Begging to differ with respect is important. I think thats the key. I'm just happy to have inadvertantly stumble onto someone who I have something in common with. Its ironic how many people really think that if you ride an HD you're automatically cool. Or you can trust anyone who rides and HD. I did at one time, many many many years ago.
