Hi, I recently installed the Cobra El Diablo pipe on my street Bob. I have noticed the heat on my leg is a lot more noticable and hotter than stock.

Is this typical of a 2 into 1? My thoughts are maybe the pipe runs hotter or the position and route of the headers put them closer together creating a more compact heat area that happens to be near my leg.

Mainly just want to know if this is common or if something is wrong. Also if anyone has tips for combating this. I am using the shields that came with the exhaust.

Thanks!

I have a 2 into 1 on my bike makes it run great. Can't say I notice any difference in heat. I've seen all kinds of remedies for heat - probably 1000 videos on you tube. All depends on the look you're going for. Some guys wrap the pipes and that has it's problems too.
You might be able to back the shields with some better insulation but make sure its temp rated.

Option B: Wear thicker pants.

You can have it cheap.
You can have it fast.
You can have high quality.
PICK ANY 2....

I know that people seem to go with true duals for the heat issue more than performance, and go with a 2 into 1 for performance, but what are the issues with heat when both pipes are running on the right side. Do you really loose that much performance with the true duals?
