Well, mine fell off yesterday
while riding.
The bracket broke that held it
to the frame.
Luckily a guy pulled up beside me and told me
my plate fell off.
I rode back a few miles looking for it,
in a little traffic on Ventura Blvd.
Came to spot I got on at. No luck.
Rode back to where he told me, and
even a little further.
Turned around, thought one more pass.
Then coming to the intersection he told me at,
thought maybe it's close by here. And sure enough it was
a 1/2 block away. Very hard to see,
laying there in middle of 1st lane.
Kind of trampled and crumpled.
Stopped by two places, that didn't want to help.
Got home and scratched my head for an hour
looking through the junk trays of hardware
in my garage. Nothing!
Finally, took the plate out of the frame,
straightened both out with hammer and wood block.
Decided, "Screw it!" Just drilled a hole big enough
about 3/8 in. by doing multiple
smaller holes and reaming just one corner of
the plate and frame, and just mounted it direct,
without any backing "bar."
Hopefully it'll stay on there awhile.
(As a backup, I was prepared to throw on the plate
that came with the bike "CAFE883")
