i have a 1946 wl45. the generator bolts backed out and i had to replace the generator drive gear with slinger. this all went fine and when started the generator light goes out but i do not have lights or horn. anyone have an idea where the best place to start would be to solve this problem.

What is the voltage on the battery when the bike is running? If it is more than it had when it wasn't running your generator is working. Then you should be able to check power at connections if no power must be a wire. Under your horn should be a connector that you can read voltage from. I am guessing you had lights and horn before the generator backed out. Is the bike a stock original wl, or wla? There is plenty of info if it is original and not changed.

DeerSlayer knows his bikes!!

I usually tend to look at the closest to the farthest - check the connections that you touched, look for any inline fuses someone may have added over the years just in case you shorted them by accident. Old wires get brittle and the insulation cracks, if it comes down to it look for shorts from chaffed wires or pinched ones.
Good luck.
Let us know what it was.

You can have it cheap.
You can have it fast.
You can have high quality.
PICK ANY 2....
