And thats where it got tricky for me w/ no front brake. On an up hill stop I would have to hold the foot clutch in such a way that I was neither moving forward nor disengaged, hence the paying attention part, lol. Because I can't have both feet up(one on the clutch and one on the back brake), I didn't feel I could complete that manuever for an extended period of time, lol. I was set up for duel disk front brakes as I had installed the front end with dual disk ready lower legs but never got around to completing it. It was a '63 FL pan on a rigid, kick only. Finally I felt I out grew the need to go thru all the pain of antiquated technology to look cool. It was just to big a price to keep paying. I had the bike for near 25 years. I was getting older(50 at the time, 56 now). I have no regrets not keeping that bike. It went to a good home,to a friend who will continue to ride and maintain it in the condition it was use to. And if I feel I need to I can ride it for old times. I don't see that happening,I'm not that young fella no more. I felt I was cool and why I kept and rode it for so long.

To expect to be perfect is unreasonable, to strive for perfection is reasonable.

Trick and slick... beautiful ride!! Great pics- thanks for sharing.

I saw a bike with the foot clutch/hand shifter a few weeks ago - I gotta ask - and please don't take this the wrong way...
WHY? Is riding a hand clutch foot shifter too easy for you? I mean I know it looks cool and all but they call them suicide shifters for a reason...

I mean no disrespect either - I would have asked the guy I saw but by the time I realized what he had he was leaving the lot...

thanks again - :icon_hat:

You are not being disrespectful at all. The day we finished putting back together my basket case 1926 JD was the first time I had ever ridden a tank shift bike. The guy who helped me told me to head down the hill and shift up and them down shift before turning right into his field. I then started out and went up the hill, shifting. When I got the bike home I took short trips around the house to get used to the hand shift. Ever since then I have loved the foot clutch/hand shift. To me, it just adds something to the motorcycle riding experience.

I figured it took lots of practice...
I'm lucky I can ride the setup I've got...

Thanks for taking the time to answer.

You can have it cheap.
You can have it fast.
You can have high quality.
PICK ANY 2....
