I picked up a 90 fatboy a few years ago it was in the midst of an engine transormation. I bought it and it had been fit with delkron cases a 4 5/8 in stroke and an axtell big bore kite, bore is 3 13/16, 106 c.i. i have been riding and wrenching on it for a couple of seasons and have decided that the time has come to put it together right. I have gotten some advice but there is no such thing as too many good ideas. I have decided to go with an S&S super G and a .590 lift cam. Now to the heads........I am taking it for a valve job and am looking for advice on what to do in order to be street friendly and still let all those cubes breath properly. In the past it has been hard on starter motors as well as head gaskets when I play to hard.Any ideas or opinions would be greatly appreciated

we have a great bunch of guys here, and between them I'm sure you will get some ideas. I personally prefer a smoother ride and reliability. So some questions for you:
what type of riding are you planning for this bike? more hot rodding or tripping, or every day use? Are you beefing up the drive train? clutch, wider tire...


You can have it cheap.

I am planning on riding mostly in town, bike nites, poker runs and work n back. I really dont do many long trips more because of work than any thing else. It doesnt have to break the land speed record just b reliable. As far as the drive, no on the wide tire i havent gotten into the tranny yet but by the looks of the clutch package its most likely already been modified. I just wanna ride!

Sounds to me that you have too much compression? Couple of things that you can do is to lower the compression makes it more streetable and uses lower grade of gas. You can also add a valve to the heads that lowers the compression when starting and lets the starter run alot easier if you run high compression engine.
