I am 75 and my little XL883R is all I can handle. For you guys who can stay on those big monsters, my hat is off to you!

I've been riding those "big monsters" all of my life. I went through a period in my twenties where I always had to have the biggest and fastest bike. For example, I owned a 1976 Kawasaki LTD when they ruled the road, but then a Honda CBX when they first came out. I grew out of that phase, and went back to my first love.

Now, there's no question about it. "Black Betty" can easily defend her honor. She scoots out from under me with almost a boring regularity.

However, at heart I'm a "Sportster guy." When I think of myself on a bike I always imagine that it's on a Sportie. I got some inheritance money a while back, and bought a Sportster 48 as a work delivery vehicle. My intent was to only use the 48 (which I call "Spinner") for work and then Betty for play. In that regard, I outfitted the smaller bike with a rack and carrying case.

Imagine my surprise during routine maintenance to find out I put more miles on Spinner than Betty. It got so bad that when I backed Spinner out of the garage I felt guilty leaving Betty idle.

So don't feel bad about your little Sportie. There are lots of guys who drive big Electra-Glide bikes and go to my gym. They're always in cars, and give me a round of excuses for not riding. One of the guys who snickered the most over my "girl's bike" only put 1,300 miles on his Glide last season.

Thanks Roadking, in my younger days I would like to have had the big one bu now I quite content with my Sportster. I just put on Highway bars, a license plate helmet lock, and a "Back-off" brake light module. I would like to add another horn for much more noticeability in traffic.
Would I need another relay? Thanks Jake Jelley

I bought a License Plate Helmet Lock, it's the only place I could find on my 05 XL883R to put one.
