Thats about my MO too..while we were raising our children I had the '63 Pan, '96 Buell and '83 Shovel. Wife rarely if ever. Once kids were gone, we discussed, we agreed and we upgraded.

+1 on that,KS. Looking real good!!! had to delay my project, got my shop full of 8N tractor right now., stripped out rear hubs. Had to push it in. At least it is something to do, in a wierd way, I enjoy working on it also.

Thanks RK I appreciate it. It's funny how what would seem are minor changes effect the experience on the bike. I was never an ape fan, but I have to say I really like them.

I haven't decided on my next project... paint or fork extensions...

You know Kickstand you should have probably considered a serious EVO hardtail: note I didn't say softail. Extended springer/girder, gymondo sissy bar with a WWII/Korean/Vietnam era extractable bayonet at the top, 12+ inch apes on 6 inch risers. Open primary belt drive and any other gizmo whiz bang you can think of...you know you want to,lol. I think any serious HD rider has to table his vision, no short cuts no compromises either. :icon_eek:

:icon_laughing: my thoughts must be broadcasting.... :icon_bang: The bayonet does sound cool. As far as the hardtail, I am not sure this fat old man would fair well on it. That would have to beat the crap out of the rider. How did you guys deal with that back in teh day? I am learning about mod'ing my bike and enjoying the journey. I just wish I had more time.

:icon_smoking: Not a lot of yapping going on in the forums so...

Eagle-1 is grounded for now. I thought I heard an exhaust leak on the front cylinder and I re-torqued and finally changed the gasket but no bueno. I noticed part of the wrap moving and after further investigation I discovered the front pipe split at the elbow. All I can figure is the wrap made the pipe expand more than designed and it split because it was in a bind a very hot. Not sure on my next move. I am going to call Paughco tommorrow and see what they say. I may have to install the OEM pipes until I get it resolved. I have considered going back to OEM and just getting V&H slip on's.

My front tire is gong bald too. I guess the smaller tires are only good for 8k?

Hey KS.

That pipe splitting is pretty wierd. Never heard of that. Perhaps something to do with the wrapping around the pipe? Or perhaps a faulty product in the pipe?

I spoke with a Paughco rep today and they are going to replace the pipe. He said it's probably bad materials.
