I need some help with the amount of oil my bike is using. Here it is: I bought a 2010 Heritage Softtail that had 1004 miles as a demo. I rode the bike for around 800 miles and decided to check the oil, a quart low. I called the dealership about the amount of oil that was missing and they said that's common to lose a quart every 5000 miles. I tried to explain to the service manager where I bought the bike that it has already had the oil changed at 1000 miles. He sends me to the parts manager to get a quart of oil at my expence. Parts manager said no free oil and called the dealership owner to get in the conversation. After explaning to him about the oil loss he had the service change the oil and filter and filled with oil. I have driven another 350 miles and the oil is starting to disapper again. It is a new bike, need suggestions.

Hey,
Sorry to hear that you are having problems with your new bike. I don't think that they are suppose to use that much oil in that short a drive. If you are not getting the satisfaction that you think that you deserve then call the factory up. I have talked to the factory about a new bike that I bought a few years ago and they helped me very much. They called up the dealer and told him to do what I wanted. Remember the squeeky wheel gets the oil. Hope this helps and you enjoy your bike.

Good Luck and ride safe!
