Hello, folks of the HRF!Dave here, from east central Indiana. I see some familiar names here. In fact, Mrsbumblebee tipped me to this site, and here I am!
Mine is a familiar story to some of you... I'm 55... rode throughout the '70's (for you young folks, that was the
1970's)
Wore out a couple Hondas back then, sold the bike in 1980, and raised a family. But in all the time I was without a ride, I had a friend and co-worker that made available his old AMF era Sporty in which I could get out and blow the dust off occasionally.
Well, fast-forward to 4-5 years ago. Wife and I are empty nesters (this story starting to sound familiar?) and I started to look hard for a ride. As with all things, a severely tight budget was/is a factor, so I started looking everywhere, and at everything. My only criteria was it had to have Milwaukee roots, and it had to be a big twin. Now, there is absolutely no prejudice against Sportsters here... it's just that I was after payload. (My beautiful bride and I, altho not circus freaks or anything, haven't exactly missed any meals over the years...)
Anyway, I found a 2000 Superglide 4 years ago. FXD's are the plain-Jane bikes of the big twin set, and this bike had virtually no miles on it.
That's basically it... I've been wrenching on this thing some since I've had it, as I do all maintenence on it, and it's been a great, trouble free ride. I'll post some pic's in the appropriate catagories here in a minute. A small pic is in my sig line.
Now I just wish it would warm up!
Dave
