After many years on Dynas (98K on my current one...a '99) and a couple of years playing around with an EG for touring, I am about to purchase a used Road Glide. I have heard feedback that there was a frame change on the 2008 model that was not well received. I heard it was not as clean handling as before or after that year. Any truth to that? Any other feedback about the differences between the RG and the EG? Thanks.

I run a 94 roadking, which is a EG basically, I took a 2008 out for a test drive and it was pretty nice, granted I didn't get to scuff the floorboards but it didn't feel like there was any thing wrong with it.

My sister has one. Trailored it to Sturgis this year, but did +400 miles of canned tours. Her only complaint was that "black shows a lot of dust."

I reminded her that dirt is only a problem for the naive idiot that has to wash and polish the bike. Her eyes widened and she gushed, "Oh, that reiminds me, I'm bringing it over Thursday."

In 08 or 09 Harley changed the frame, the new frames are better. If it has the new frame on it then you are in good shape. Friend of mine had an 06 or 07 and said that he didn't like it as it got pushed around in cross winds. That's a fairing issue with that model.

My bike is black too...
You're lucky you live just out of one tank range cause you'd have more than her bike to obsess over.

You got that right. I used to "detail" to make extra money when I was younger. As a job, it's a pain. However I'm trying to get her to try the wipe-down after a day's ride, especially with a friend and a cold drink.

I pull my bikes into an open slot in my garage, and while they cool I do some other task, or eat dinner. When they are easier to touch without third-degree burns, I just grab some Windex, Bug Slide and few micro-fiber cloths. My wife will even sit on a deck chair and we'll talk about the day's events. Very relaxing, and a clean bike for the following day.

Another thing about being a fudd. Before cell phones and the other computer related junk, guys used to hang out in each others' garages and shoot the breeze. Don't they do that anymore?

WE still do that, just seems everyone lives a good distance from one another and the ride home needs a wipe down all over LOL
