I do like to tent. Find a county park - like Spearfish, $20 a night is not too bad.
The big campgrounds never interested me.
The last few I tent in the yard of a friend. I am allergic to cats and he has 'em in the house.
If you don't get out and ride then the crowds near Sturgis can get bad during the day, but hey it is a rally.
I live close - 10 hours (630 miles) from Mpls to Sturgis, so not bad at all.

That seems one of the best ways, in the yard, no hassles with the crowds and friends close by.
For me its a 2 day trip any way I slice it.

I love my AIR suspension...Tourist have you ever tried out the Rk? If so what was your take? I have to say that the newer ones don't seem to be as nimble as the one I have or maybe I'm just biased.

Can't say that I have. I would like to try that Fat Bob, the one with the heavier front end and the double headlamps. I like the 'straight bars,' as the postion seems to fit me for a bike with forward controls.

My wife and I were just talking about our mutual vacation plans. In fact, as I write this she is out for dinner with "The Posse" as they finalize plans for their Aruba trip. Who knows how that will effect my private travel plans--if our present rainy season continues.

(BTW, the reason I like the Bob is that the front end looks a lot like a bigger version of the one on Spinner, and I find that style lighter than a dresser, but really solid in big sweepers at speed.)

I checked out the one you're talking about when they first came out, really liked the look myself, but once I sat on it didn't like the position, wasn't really comfortable for me. I have a back problem and if I can't get in the right position my leg goes numb. The road king is a pretty good compromise in size/weight/ability for my type of riding. I've ridden with a few guys that were amazed at how well I was able to keep up on twisty back roads with them on what they thought were going to be much better handling bikes. Then again I'm not in any way afraid to loose a little off the floorboards either.
If you ever get a chance I'd like to get your take on one.
Still my first choice for trippin'.

So, you're not a biker then. Well, most of us figured that out.
